For today's blog, the next thing I will teach you is how to bake tres leches cake by sharing the steps and the ingredients.

The most authentic homemade Tres Leches Cake there is. A light cake soaked in sweet milk and topped with fresh whipped cream and cinnamon.


Ingredients

Cake:
1 cup all-purpose flour
•1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
•1/4 teaspoon salt
•5 large eggs , separated
•1 cup granulated sugar , divided
•1/3 cup whole milk
•1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Milk Mixture:
•12 ounce can evaporated milk
•14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
•1/4 cup whole milk

Whipped Topping:
1 pint heavy whipping cream
•3 Tablespoons powdered sugar
•1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
•ground cinnamon , for topping



Step-by-step Instruction

STEP 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Using nonstick cooking spray, coat a 9×13" pan.

STEP2
Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Divide the eggs between two additional mixing bowls.

STEP 3
Mix 3/4 cup sugar into the egg yolks on high speed until the yolks are pale yellow. Stir in 1/3 cup milk and vanilla extract. Pour the egg yolk mixture over the flour mixture and gently fold together (do not over-mix).

STEP 4
Beat the egg whites on high speed with electric beaters. As the whipped cream begins to stiffen, gradually add the remaining 1/4 cup sugar. Gently fold the stiffly beaten egg whites into the batter, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl, until combined.

STEP 5
Smooth the batter into an even layer in the prepared pan. Bake the cake for 25 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely after removing it from the oven.

STEP 6
In a small mixing bowl, combine the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and whole milk. Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over the top with a fork.

STEP 7
Pour the milk mixture slowly over the top of the cake, making sure to get close to the edges and all the way around. Refrigerate the cake for at least an hour or overnight to absorb the milk.
Meanwhile, whip the heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.

STEP 8
Smooth over the cake's top. Sprinkle with cinnamon. If desired, garnish with fresh sliced strawberries. Enjoy!


Tres leches literally translates to "three milks," and Tres Leches Cake is a light sponge cake soaked in a sweet milk mixture.
